This matter first of all should not be addressed with a civil trial. It needs to be conducted under a military tribunal. Persuing this as a civil trial in NYC would quickly become a fiasco and a circus. The terrorists would like nothing more than to be extended this opportunity to further their ills upon us all and the families of the victims. They absolutely do not deserve to be afforded the same rights as our citizens or to be recognised as common criminals for they are an exceptional lot.
As terrorists they perpetrated an immense act of cowardice by attacking and murdering civilians. Terrorists are not recognized as enemy combatants under the articles of the Geneva conventions. They are excluded from such recognition and count themselves among the same ilk as spies and pirates on the high seas and as such may be shot out of hand. We would be perfectly within our rights under international law to do so. This of course we cannot do for we are the United States of America and so must take the higher path and maintain the dignity and decorum of the bastion of righteousness and justice. The families of the victims deserve no less.
We must also remember that among the victims of these cowardly wretches are to be counted persons from more than eighty countries who perished alongside our fellow citizens that fateful day. Those nations and the families of those victims too deserve to be equally accomodated. Therefore this matter must be addressed by a multinational military tribunal.
This should be conducted at Guantanamo Bay Cuba where the terrorist suspects are now held. Unfortunately that gentleman in the whitehouse would rather that the subject of "Gitmo" not be focused upon as he would I'm sure rather see it fade away and not see the public reminded of its continued existance.
Just my two cents.
