Federal crimes should be severely punished, but, the constant expansion of the federal role in crime prevention should be tempered. Effective crime control can only be administered by local governments. The Conservative Party supports "good faith" exclusionary rule exemptions, so that vital evidence is not suppressed to the benefit of the criminals.
