Immigration
The United States has been built on the talents and sacrifices of immigrants starting with the first settlers. While this nation accepted newcomers it did so by establishing a system of eligibility. We never promoted open borders. In recent decades our nation has been burdened with illegal aliens who are active participants in gang warfare and other illegal activities. They are also a drain on our social services, schools, hospitals and taxpayers.
The bottom line of our immigration policies must be to prosecute all illegals. Our government cannot be seen as granting amnesty or any other protection to those who broke the law. Until we enforce a policy that illegals are lawbreakers we will never have a successful policy of stemming the flow of illegal aliens.
The legal immigration system should welcome people who share our values and our culture. It should be streamlined so that these future citizens are felt welcome in our friendly society.
We applaud private citizens who are offering their services to law enforcement to help secure our borders. We urge the federal government to withhold funds to states and localities like New York that instruct their law enforcement and social service agencies to refuse to assist immigration authorities in their efforts to stem the flow of law breakers into our society.
